Summit for the Cure

Summit Reviews:

"One of my favorite stories was a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother had died of breast cancer. She had given up her daughter for adoption when she was 18 years old, but felt compelled to inform her of her family risk. She wrote a letter to the adoption agency. The letter was passed on to her daughter. Her daughter was floored to be receiving mail from her birth mother after all these years. They wrote back and forth for a while through the agency, then got court approval to meet each other. Meanwhile, the daughter at age 27 was checked for breast cancer. They found none, but they did find cervical cancer. She had a complete hysterectomy and is doing well today. If it hadn't been for her mother's letter, she doesn't know when or if the cervical cancer would have been found.

I tell you, given the level of enthusiasm and excitement of the people of Thermopolis, the Summit was right up there with being as inspirational as the race." - Charlotte Holden-Carr

"The speakers were wonderful and the audience participation included really well thought out questions, which made it even better. The Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital radiology department said the following morning - they qualified and scheduled 20 women for free screening mammograms through their Komen grant on Saturday. The director of that department stopped me as I was leaving and said "So, are you coming back next year?" Success!

I hope you'll all be able to attend our next Summit wherever it may be. For me, it helps energize and reminds me why exactly we spend so much time doing what we do." - Tiffany Smith
