Casting for Recovery (CFR) – Wyoming

A Quality of Life Program that provides retreats to promote and support mental and physical healing of breast cancer survivors who live in Wyoming.  CfR’s retreats are open to breast cancer survivors of all ages, in all stages of treatment and recovery, and are free to participants. CfR’s unique program combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing.

During the 2½ day retreat, the participants receive instruction on fly-fishing skills, are provided with medical education and are guided by trained facilitators who help participants explore their own recovery process. CfR's welcoming environment, free of the constraints of treatment, family responsibility, and financial concerns, helps women take charge of their own wellness. The retreats offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life and experience healing connections with other women and nature. Whether women are currently in treatment or ten years beyond it, participants find a common bond, help one another address issues that arise post-treatment and share inspiration that goes beyond what is available to them in their everyday lives.  Wyoming participants have ranged in age from 32 to 75.  CfR Wyoming also hosts alumnae events.
