Current Spotlight - The Caring for Women Program
A yearly wellness exam is critical to good health, and a mammogram is a vital part of early breast cancer detection. Many Wyoming women neglect to receive these exams because they lack insurance coverage or otherwise cannot meet the financial requirements to receive these services free of charge.
The Caring for Women Program, supported by The Caring Foundation and part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wyoming, provides access to theses services by paying the costs of a comprehensive wellness visit, a pap smear and , in cooperation with the Wyoming affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, paying the costs of mammograms.
During 2010 more than 675 Wyoming women received mammograms as a result of this program. The Caring Foundation's mammography goal for 2011 is 700.
